Women’s World Day of Prayer

I have been involved with the Women’s World Day of Prayer for 51 years. When I moved here 12 years ago I started going to the Mid Norfolk Villages service. This year we were privileged to host the service at Beetley Methodist Church. The Church was full and we also had a very well behaved “Guide” dog!

The words of the service this year came straight from the hearts of the women of the Barbados Islands and reflected the reality of their lives. It was based on the words of Jesus, ‘Do you know what I have done to you?’ We were asked to share with each other our thoughts on radical love and wrote our response on a paper ‘footprint’ These were then gathered up with the offering. The main themes that came through from the ‘feet’ were love and peace.

It is also very moving to think that over 24 hours the same words are being said by women and men as time rolls round the world.
